EXPLORER BELT 2006 SLIC & GLMW, along with a few others, went to Switzerland in August to do the Explorer Belt. The Explore Switzerland 2006 team was made up of the following people that are in the picture on the right.
We were split up into five groups of three which had between the 4th and the 14th August to walk around Switzerland. Each person received 200 Swiss Francs for the 10 days. Each group had to complete one major project and 10 minor projects aimed at getting us to interact with the locals in the towns and villages that we passed through. Everyone seamed to have had a great time when we all meet up again on the 14th. Some seamed to get better luck with finding places to stay than other groups. But that’s the whole fun of it. We had all planed routes which most seamed to stick to quite well,, the only group to change there route in any dramatic way was my group. Some of the members wanted to go over Mont Blanc, but the weather over the mountain forced us to change our minds. But never the less we still had fun. There was a major celebration whilst out in Switzerland, I turned 21! The only down side to that was the weather. Waking up on my birthday to rain and a leaky tent was not much fun, but what the hey I was with some good friends, and my sister. In the evening it got better, so much better. In the town we were taken to in the afternoon, we were treated to an open air gig and some spectacular fireworks in the evening. |
